Felix is a mathematician and computer scientist by training and after finishing his PhD in discrete topology he switched his research focus to computational neuroscience and machine learning in 2011. During his post doc period he worked at several Max Planck Institutes, studying among other things effects of self-organization in neuronal networks, neural data analysis methods based on maximum entropy models, and properties of the geometric structure of neuronal dendritic trees. His research interests are in neuroscience, mathematics, data analysis, and machine learning. In 2017, he co-founded a SF-based startup focused on machine-learning based live video processing. He is a big friend of dogs, and in his free time loves going for runs in the forest and everything that involves a board under his feet.
