David previously specialized in AI research and engineering within the medical field, most recently serving as the machine learning lead at a startup automating multimodal medical data analysis. Driven by a childhood dream to work with whales and dolphins, he published a language-audio foundation model for bioacoustics as an independent researcher, leading him to connect with ESP. Outside of work he enjoys connecting with nature through hobbies like scuba diving, surfing, backpacking and hiking.
